In 2019, Phenomena were at our absolute peak in terms of shows, jams, full band family hangs, and all around endless fun. We also began utilizing the practice space over in Easthampton CONSTANTLY.

With our jobs all consisting of morning and afternoon scheduling for the most part, we found ourselves often awake early anyways. Trying to plan practice later on in the days would sometimes prove to be difficult.

So, in order to make sure we got in at least one to two hours of practice/improv almost daily at this point in time (I believe Sal or Andrew may have pitched this brilliant idea) We would begin our mornings with several cups of coffee and then all meet at the practice space where we would rehearse, jam, improvise, and hang out before we all rushed off to our jobs.

During this time, Sal moved in all of his recording equipment. This allowed us to suddenly make a huge step up in quality from whatever iPhone quality recordings we may have been capturing up until then (often times forgetting to record at all!)

With a 4-track in hand, pro-tools and various ways to record. Sal began taping everything. Endless jams, rehearsals, demos for what would have been the 2nd record, and more!

When the band went on hiatus in the fall of 2019, these tapes sat around in a box for a while and were somewhat forgotten about. The vault was meant to be entirely digitalized and eventually released as a series of SYR type recordings under the PH-256 catalog. Sadly, this never really came to fruition and I forgot all about it until last summer.

Some of you may have gotten to dig into the "dub plate" that Dylan Burton mixed during the summer of 2021 already as a small sampling of one of these sessions.

So, here is the second installment of what would have been PH-256 Vol. 2!
It's been a blast to go back and listen to these and digitize them, and believe me, this is just the tip of the iceberg. So, as a treat for your early psychedelic summer, here is PH-256 Vol. 2: Absolutely Fry/Shock Yr Mind!
